THE NEW NORDIC DESIGN APPROACH.
In a society which is increasingly focused on performance, I believe, that a new nordic design approach will emerge in the development of social engaging and inexpensive design solutions of a high ethical standard . Solutions, that easily translates to the user; approaches them at an eye level and playfully educates them into becoming independent and free-thinking individuals, who is of an extremely high value to our society and our future improvement.
Merging design disciplines and combining digital and analog design traditions, we have the possibility of developing a new role for designers and outdated systems; facilitating responsible social solutions, that enables re-thinking of social constructions and realization of self potential, -selfworth and creativity.
THE FASHION SYSTEM as a whole can be re-positioned into something that can create positive changes - something that can empower and create communities; focusing on sustainable solutions both social, environmental and economically. We can take ownership of the outdated fashion system and re-think it from being excluding, focusing merely on popularity - and establish a system of social inclusion and capacity enhancing education.
THE WORKSHOP format as a tool.
Using the workshop format as a common denominator in the process, I integrate and often challenge the user to work with a tactile understanding or ‘the thinking hand’ in social situations, which makes participants experience and reflect upon own potential abilities and in more general social matters like the difficulties in growing up in an image-obsessed reality - or the comprehensive over-consumption of ressources.
I believe, that the future role of designers is to look beyond our disciplines, merge our capabilities and create socially sustainable solutions for tomorrow by enhancing the participation of the user. We need to smarten future generations and provide them with the skills to discover their own potential of creativity and critical thinking.
MY PURPOSE as a designer is to create spaces where participants can discover their own creative potential and develop essential skills in our new digital reality; like creative problem solving, critical thinking and a strong set of social skills.
I seek to develop playful solutions which provide our future generations with abilities that enables them to make smart and sustainable decisions.
RETHINKING THE ROLE OF THE FASHION DESIGNER.
My work has its core in fashion; I work with storytelling and the handling of complex problems through images, materials and textures as well as the staging and styling of personas and universes.
Combining this with a passion for playful communication, participatory design and the creation of social sustainable solutions, I continuously push the envelope, pursuing the possibilities for re-shaping and re-thinking our future role as designers:
MY PURPOSE as a designer is to create experiences that help people discover their own potential: to develop essential skills in our new digital reality; like creative problem solving, critical thinking and a strong set of social skills - both within the digital sphere as well as in the real world.
